see my translation from german of the procedure, with pictures
https://sites.google.com/site/energetics....allic-potassium
Warning Potassium metal can ignite in moist air, and will explode if it comes into contact with water. The hydrocarbon solvent is highly flammable. Potassium alkoxide also forms as a byproduct, as for its hazardous nature, it is comparable to sodium methoxide, potentially causing severe chemical burns without the victim realizing it spilled on them (it inactivates pain receptors). This procedure is potentially a recipe for disaster if anything goes wrong.

I still don't know where to get tert-butanol. Omikron-Online is in German, so I'm assuming they're based in Germany, and I can't even navigate their pages. Any advice? I guess I am pestering you about this, but I really would rather make the potassium than buy it, and this seems like a great setup.
